I sketched it out with my tablet in photoshop, then once i had an idea of what i wanted, i manually drew each letter in Fontographer. There's got to be an easier way , though. This was just...painful.

Yeah I got a tablet as well but could not figure out how to "sketch" in the Fontographer. All I got was their pen tool that um... sucks.

Yeah, you really need to be pretty familiar with working with vector-based programs. The pen tool is a bit tricky, but once you get used to it, it's functional.

There are plenty of tutorials online for using basic tools of vector programs. While the pen tool won't work *precisely* the same way in other programs as it does in Fontographer, it would at least give you an idea of how to go about it if you've never used a pen tool before. I'd find a very simple and basic pen tool tutorial, say for Freehand or some similar program, learn the basics, and go from there. Good luck :)
